Spring Into A Better Smile

If you are like me, spring cleaning is a must in my home. Making sure all the crevices of my home are cleaned out, nice and neat and reorganized. Well, the same thing should happen for your mouth.

Get that deep cleaning you have been putting off, get those braces to straighten your smile like you’ve always wanted, go have your teeth whitened to make your smile brighter…

Goodbye Winter!

Leaving winter behind means we leave behind all the holidays that involve sweets; Halloween is full of candy, Thanksgiving we indulge in candied yams, pies and lots of different desserts, Christmas usually involves the same, as well as candy as a stocking filler, then we have valentine’s day where chocolate is always a must! Spring brings a more refreshing season, with lots of fruits and lighter foods. Although fruits do have sugars they are natural sugars and not nearly as bad for your teeth however we do still suggest rinsing or brushing after eating.

Below are a few tips to help maintain a health smile during any time of year:

  • Schedule a checkup every 6 months
  • Brush and floss at least 2 times per day for 2 minutes each time
  • Brush (or if no access to toothbrush then rinse with water) after any sugary foods or drinks
  • Limit the amount of sugary foods and drinks that you consume

You Still Need Your Checkup

Remember that even if we are brushing, flossing and following all the rules of healthy oral health, a dental checkup is still necessary every 6 months to ensure there is nothing going on below the surface of your teeth and gums and to have a cleaning done by a dental professional so any buildup unseen to the naked eye can be removed.
